Tauros Hekarus

My second Ultramarine character for my 40k/Disney story.

Behold, Tauros Hekarus, oldest member of the Ultramarines Honor Guard, guardian of the Banner of Macragge, trusted friend of Marneus Calgar..........the Bull of Ultramar.
Tauros Hekarus is a very unique and aloof warrior within the Ultramarines. He is the oldest member of the Honor Guard. Nearly five hundred years old, he is the only Terran to be in the Ultramarines. He is not a native of Ultramar; his true homeworld is Terra, the holy world of the Imperium itself. He was found by a young Calgar, who had recently ascended to the office of Chapter Master. During a tour of the Imperial Palace while attending a important conclave, Calgar wandered into the slums of Terra and there, saw Tauros, a young 14-year old boy who was unusually strong and tall for his age. Calgar approached him and offered him a place in the Ultramarines; Tauros accepted without hesitation. However, he would soon prove to be one of the most troublesome recruits ever seen.

Tauros is known to be a very stubborn and independent Space Marine, more so than even some of the more rebellious Astartes. He is not a believer in taking orders and in command hierarchy. Throughout his career, he has garnered a plethora of discommendations, complaints from sergeants and captains, and a long list of reprimands. All thanks to his refusal to obey orders. He is known to also have a deep love and compassion for the mortal civilians of the Imperium, a compassion so strong he has been known to break away from the battle line to save any civilian caught in the crossfire. This reckless abandon and refusal to obey orders has earned him many rebukes and dislikes by some of the more established Ultramarine officers, especially Captain Sicarius. In truth, a Space Marine with that many faults, reprimands, and a record like that should've been exiled long ago. But for all his flaws, Tauros has proven to be an immensely likeable Ultramarine and a stout follower of the Codex. Also, his close friendship with Calgar has protected him from the inquiries of fellow Ultramarines.

Eventually, Calgar saw that Tauros would not make it as a sergeant or even as a Tactical Marine. He saw that this rebellious warrior needed a place where he could feel free and still be loyal to the Legion. The Honor Guard itself was the perfect place for Tauros; he was eligible for the position, despite his horrendous record. But within that record were many recommendations of valor for saving fellow battle-brothers, and a long list of the many enemy leaders he had faced down and defeated, including Typhus the Traveller himself. His reputation of saving civilians also has helped him become an Honor Guardsman. For nearly four centuries, Tauros Hekarus has remained in the Honor Guard and is one of its oldest members. He has fought in many of the major battles of the Ultramarines, including the Battle of Macragge. Yet he is not assigned to any squad; he is given free will to roam the battlefield and lend his skills to any Ultramarines force under fire. His reckless, stubborn manner has earned him the moniker "Bull of Ultramar." He is easily recognizable from the other Guard with his trademark Combi-bolter and Axe of Ultramar. Other identifying marks include his left shoulder guard painted a darker shade of blue than standard Ultramarine blue and his personal heraldry: a white field surmounted by a black cross with the Ultramarines symbol in the center. Tauros Hekarus is the most stubborn and dedicated warrior of the Ultramarines. He has forged a keen friendship with the Defender of Ultramar, Horatius Antares, that they both fight alongside each other from time to time.

So here's my second character, Tauros Hekarus, the most stubborn and pig-headed Ultramarine ever. But he is still a dedicated warrior of Ultramar and a loyal follower of the Emperor, despite his rebellious manner.
