Description

"What you need, sister? Ah, don't say it. I know you're in for another mission, and you need some 'special gear' for it, something our higher-ups don't officially sanction, yet 'unofficially' do. So what you need? Come on, I'm a Reclaimator! It's my job to salvage good tech out of the bad and reuse it. That simple! So simple I can make a good lasgun with some good scrap, a bit o' crystal matrix, and any capacitor I can get my hands on, and it's as good as the real deal. Oh, stop being so high-and-mighty and law-abiding! If y'need some gear for this mission that's not on our payroll, then spit it out! I'll get it. What do you need? Auspex? 'Eavy stuff? 'Lithic cell? Plasma? I can get whateva y'need, brand-new or reconditioned and good as new. Great wheel o' the steel god crush me if it’s not so.........." -Sailor Techmator, Soldier of Salvage, Reclaimator of the Adeptus Mechanicus, the Scrapmaster, the Junk Artiste, the Lady Machinum.

In an adjacent galaxy, there lies the Imperium of Man, a pan-galactic theocratic empire with humanity as its dominant species. It consists of many different worlds and cultures, and it is where the Star Warriors receive a large number of their recruits. Many are its worlds and cultures, ranging from primitive Stone Age peoples to feudal realms to highly advanced technological societies, all united under a single rule and all worshipping the same deity, albeit under different customs and religious beliefs. But there are some worlds that aren't beholden to the Imperium entirely, but rather from another great power that is essential to the galactic empire's existence. Known as the Adeptus Mechanicus, it is a vast technocractic organization, corporation, and church all in one. From this single organization comes all the advanced technology that the Imperium uses in its everyday functions. From threshing machines to simple computers, and from enormous starships to countless amounts of ammunition for the Imperium's massive armies, everything technological comes straight from the pseudo-church and manufacturing giant that is the Adeptus Mechanicus.

A good portion of these Imperial Senshi come from planets known as Forge Worlds, which are planets devoted entirely to manufacturing and thus are factories on a global scale. These worlds have access to some of the most advanced technologies and weapons known to the galaxy. It is from here that some of the Star Warriors' finest weaponsmiths, engineers, technicians, shipbuilders, architects, and tech-masters come from, all experts in their fields of study and all Sailor Senshi. However, some of these Adeptus Mechanicus adepts who become Star Warrior Senshi don't fit any of the aforementioned fields of profession that are honored positions within the galactic technocracy from which they hail. Many of these adepts are often salvagers, scrappers, and mechanics of the lowest sort, often looked down upon by many of the higher-ups in the Adeptus Mechanicus. Yet it is from these lowly adepts that some of the best technology experts, inventors, and innovators emerge, their lowly duties and knowledge of salvage often coming in handy to create unique, one-of-a-kind machines, weapons, and technology cobbled together from bits of scrap and pieces of junk, and they all work beautifully well. Here is where the skill of the salvager comes into play, and Sailor Techmator is one of the very best in this regard.

Her civilian name is Mirella Syrion. As stated earlier, she is a member of the vast Adeptus Mechanicus technocracy, though she is a member of the lowest type. Specifcally, Mirella is a Reclaimator, a position within the Mechanicus whose purpose is to salvage raw materials from old and damaged systems, to scavenge parts and be tasked with the endless cycle of minor repairs needed to keep a starship flying or a hive city’s infrastructure from collapsing under its own weight. By necessity, a Reclaimator’s skills begin to stray into a higher understanding of machinery and technology than most of their brethren and many learn to worship the Machine God of their tech-faith in a fragmentary and superstitious manner, marking them apart from their fellows. Reclaimators themselves are often sent into dangerous or unsafe areas with little direct supervision, and they scavenge or salvage a good deal more than their masters know. As a result, most Reclaimators have a reputation as suspicious, shifty characters who sell their skills and the items they retrieve or repair for a good profit on the black market. Many have links to criminal gangs and more than a few are willing to resort to robbery and even murder to build up their spoils if they think they can get away with it.

Mirella certainly equates with some of the stereotypical Reclaimator views, though not all of them. As a member of the Mechanicus, Mirella obviously possesses greater-than-average understanding of technology as well as the skills needed to use and repair tech. Her status as a Reclaimator, though, shifts into the innovative side a lot more than the orthodox members of the Mechanicus. As a result, Mirella knows how to cobble together, disassemble, and jury-rig just about any piece of tech she can get her hands on. Many of her machines are uniquely her own, designed and cobbled together by her hand from often incompatible pieces of tech that Mirella has nonetheless made them work. That was how she got her first nickname from within the Adeptus Mechanicus ranks, becoming known as the "Scrapmaster". To date, almost all her creations work well. This gift for salvage and innovation, in addition to the everyday maintenance of all the technology she oversees on her assigned world of Gerax, ensures that Mirella is a skilled individual.

It was this innate skill with technology, her gift for innovation, and her Reclaimator status that brought Mirella into the attention of the Star Warriors. As always, the Star Warriors send yearly recruitment runs across the Milky Way and adjacent galaxies to recruit young women into their ranks as full-fledged Sailor Senshi. So it was that a Star Warrior recruitment team was nearby Gerax and they heard of the Scrapmaster. Curious, they came and met with her. The recruiters were highly impressed with Mirella's skill set and tech expertise, though dismayed at her lowly position within such a technologically-advanced organization. Mirella showed no disgust at her role, though; she rather liked being a Reclaimator, as it afforded her the chance to innovate, invent, and otherwise sell some salvage for extra cash, though she wasn't a killer or murderer. She was also openly receptive to the Star Warriors' offer of membership and eagerly accepted. As was customary, Mirella underwent the required six years of training to become Sailor Senshi, learning everything from combat skills to magic, but it was her knowledge of technology that she furthered even more, expanding her expertise with studying alien tech, ancient forms of technology, and other such proscribed knowledge.

Finally, the day came. Mirella was successfully initiated into the Order of the Star Warriors, choosing the name Sailor Techmator as her Senshi identity. Her strengths as a Senshi include some magic, but virtually all her skills involve her expertise in salvage and technology. Within the Star Warriors, Mirella is often known as the "Junk Artiste"; she's gained a reputation among her Senshi sisters for creating advanced weapons and technology from just about any piece of salvage and scrap she can find. With only a few pieces of scrap metal, an old power pack, and some wiring, Mirella is able to produce a simple but efficient laser pistol for anyone. Other devices she's made from scrap include short-wave radios, scanners, and even a long-range hypercomm array. Many of them still work after multiple uses, given that Mirella often replaces some of their scrapped parts with fresh ones. She is best known among the Star Warriors for her salvage skill and ability to cobble together any piece of technology from just about all kinds of scrap. Many a Senshi has used a piece of gear assembled by her, and they greatly appreciate her skill. Salvage expert, scrap artist extraordinaire, Reclaimator of the Adeptus Mechanicus, and Sailor Senshi. That's her in a nutshell.

Weapons and Items

Brittleblade- the name may sound weak and make anyone who sees it think that Mirella carries a weapon that'll break upon the first blow, but Brittleblade is the exact opposite. Her favored weapon and only Attack Item, Brittleblade takes the form of an old, discarded power axe that's long past its golden years. The weapon looks worn and heavily used, whilst the axe blade itself is cracked and brittle, hence the weapon's name. But remember, Mirella is known as the Scrapmaster and the Junk Artiste for good reason; within the brittle axe blade lies a second blade made of adamantium that comes out when activated, and it's outfitted with the finest disruptor field tech her money could buy. Brittleblade also has a small crystal fitted on top of the haft that while outwardly it appears to be a simple aesthetic flourish, the crystal is actually connected to the energy conduits of the blade, making it capable of harnessing electricity and projecting it outward in violent bursts. Thus, Brittleblade is also a makeshift arc weapon in addition to being a potent power axe and Mirella's Attack Item, being magically enchanted to deal with supernatural creatures and project her powers whenever needed.

Modular left arm- her organic left arm was amputated years ago by Mirella herself, to make way for bionic replacements. Her arm is now a modular piece of gear that can be outfitted with any device of her choosing. She can fit a multi-tool kit on her arm, a longsaw, plasma cutters, wrenches and screwdrivers, or in battle, a multi-barreled cannon that's belt-fed from the pack on her back.

Wearable power pack- fitted together from scrap, this pack serves Mirella in a number of ways. It can contain extra tools and nutrition packs, it has a miniature power generator to power all her tools, an internal ammo system, and a single mech-arm fitted with a salvaged lasgun that fires beams of death to any enemy nearby.

Servo-skull- servo-skulls are a common sight in both the Adeptus Mechanicus and in the Imperium. They are essentially human skulls fitted with all manner of bionics and other types of machinery, and they're designed to serve in any capacity. Servo-skulls can be hovering weapon platforms, scribes, lanterns, computers, and helpers in any capacity. Mirella uses a servo-skull fitted with sensory equipment that's neurally bonded to her, allowing Mirella to survey the area around her with greater sight.

Known attacks

Scrap Storm Deluge- Mirella's magical attacks involve manipulation of magnetic fields and electricity, thus enabling her to control metal. She always carries a small pouch full of scrap metal on her waist; this is where Scrap Storm Deluge comes forth. An attack that enables Mirella to control and shape scrap in any form she chooses, it can be anything from a small whirlwind to an enormous storm of scrap metal that will engulf all enemies under its strike. Spent bolts, casings, rusted metal, old weapons, discarded parts, corroded pieces, all of these become part of the attack that is Scrap Storm Deluge, and Mirella wields this attack with all the skill of a master coordinator.

Junk Blade Dance- a very unique attack, it continues to use Mirella's ability to manipulate metal in a flowery kind of way. Using this attack means that Mirella can make two enormous swords from any scrap around her and wield them as if she were a giant swordsman. A dance does come into play here, but it's a deadly dance, for the twin junk swords are able to sweep aside rows of enemies like they were nothing, and they're even capable of slicing whole walls, buidlings, and bunkers in half.

Duties

As Sailor Techmator, Mirella is still closely tied to her original membership with the Adeptus Mechanicus. But as a Sailor Senshi, she is an excellent provider of gear and materiel to her fellow Senshi, in addition to a few scrapjobs of her own make that have proven themselves highly useful in the field. She has seen her share of missions, though, and mostly adhere closely to her Reclaimator role and role as a warrior Sailor Senshi. Her deeds include:

.During a relief mission to the colony world Eren, Mirella was the only one of the Senshi team who noticed that the city they were on had really old, decaying maintenance systems. Inspecting further, she saw that the city's infrastructure was close to collapsing. The sewage pipes were close to rupturing, many of the city roads and highways were ready to collapse, and much of the old wiring and generators that provided the city's power were about ready to explode. She urged her superior and the city council to evacuate the city whilst she maintained its infrastructure until reconstruction efforts could begin. Unfortunately, it was a case of too little, too late. The sewage pipes gave way, spilling tons of waste out into the city, and the generators exploded, destroying a good portion of the city and leaving the rest of it without power. In the end, the city had to be rebuilt, but luckily there were no casualties or injuries, the city council having heeded Mirella's warnings and evacuating the city prior to the disaster.

.The Battle of Crannon's Ridge is one of the most celebrated and talked about victories in the Star Warriors' history. It was fought on the world of Arquias, a waste world located in the southernmost fringes of our galaxy. Arquias was a planet filled with toxic waste and billions of tons of scrap and salvage, but beneath all that lay a treasure trove of ancient technologies originally belonging to the Imperium of Man back during its golden age. How so much lost tech originating a galaxy away could have come here was unknown, but soon all eyes fell to Arquias and numerous factions flocked to the waste world to lay claim to the lost trove. The Adeptus Mechanicus itself sent nine whole expeditions to reclaim what was rightfully theirs. The Star Warriors, in turn, sent six teams of Senshi, since they didn't want this foreseen conflict to escalate into full-blown war that would attract other worlds. Five of those six teams consisted of Sailor Senshi who were all Mechanicus members, and Mirella was amongst that number. In the end, the Adeptus Mechanicus emerged the victor, successfully reclaiming its lost tech. As for Mirella, her name is synonymous with the victory at Crannon's Ridge, a region of land filled with so much scrap that it towered over the ground like a mountain. Here Mirella dealt the deathblow to an Ork pirate raid that had come to claim the lost tech for themselves. She used her Scrap Storm Deluge to literally shred the Ork pirates with an entire mountain of scrap. It was described as the following, "So much scrap metal flew in the air, controlled by just one woman. It was like watching ten million assault rifles all fire shrapnel rounds at the same time. The Orks didn't stand a chance."
