Kian Mek'tar, The Firehammer

Kian Mek'tar, the Firehammer and the Scion of the Forgefather.

Nocturne is a hellish death world, riddled with fire, smoke, and ash. Volcanoes erupt constantly across its broken landscape, and the land itself changes constantly due to the mighty earthquakes caused by such turbulent activity. And yet........life thrives here, the race of humans known as Nocturneans having forged a great society here. The flame and the arts of the forge are essential to their way of life, and standing guard over the people are the mighty warriors of the XVIII Legion known as the Salamanders, master warrior-smiths who fight to defend the innocent.

They are intimate in the ways of metal and fire, and are expert forge-wrights, artificers, and weaponsmiths in their own right as well as incredible warriors. Once in a while there is one in their number who is a master craftsman, lauded by his brothers and respected by his older peers. Kian Mek'tar is one of those special warriors, his skill in the forge greater than any other. There is only one other who could surpass him in smithing skill and warrior prowess, and that is his idol, the mysterious warrior-wanderer known only as the Forgefather.

Kian had heard tales of the Forgefather, of how he is one of their own kin who is out on a sacred quest to find the lost relics of their progenitor. Kian has always admired the Forgefather and sought to become like him, if only in skill. Such were his exploits and expertise that they somehow caught the attention of the Forgefather himself, who saw a kindred spirit within Kian. Kian was not a worshipper, however; he embodied the same traits of self-sacrifice and service as any other of their kin, and respected the Forgefather for who he was, not for what he was supposed to be. And so the impossible occurred.

Kian was beset with amazement as the Forgefather returned home for a brief time, and during that time, he decided to take Kian under his wing and teach him his ways. For only a week Kian learned under the Forgefather's tutelage, but even that was enough to leave an imprint upon the young aspirant. For when the Forgefather departed, Kian was a changed individual, more stern and noble than before and ever more skilled in the arts of war and the forge. His warrior abilities increased greatly, as did his smithing skills, Kian now able to perform amazing combat maneuvers and forge ever finer works of craftsmanship. Since his brief teaching under the Forgefather, Kian has surpassed even the best of his kin, earning him the title "Firehammer" and the near-mythical epithet "Scion of the Forgefather."

Ever since then, Kian Mek'tar has been the only Salamander in history to have learned from the Forgefather himself. No one else has ever achieved such a unique feat. Now known as either the Scion or the Firehammer, Kian Mek'tar is instantly recognizable to all. His armor is one of the finest and strongest there is, and his weapons emulate that of the Forgefather: a mighty polearm with a potent heat weapon, and a massive gauntlet that breathes flame. Though inferior to the Forgefather's mightier weapons, they are no less potent.

Now Kian Mek'tar is a symbol to all, a living symbol of the Forgefather himself, and a reminder of what it means to be Salamander.


My currently last Salamander, and I wanted to create a character that resembles the Forgefather, though isn't like him. He'll be a character I'll include in my story, too. Enjoy.
